237-Jackman%20Brothers%20printed

This is the most well known “life” of the Jackman Brothers car with its full chrome chassis and plexiglass floor ...

The Jackman Brothers car was a search with an interesting twist ... it was widely believed that the car was lost forever until we got a message from Ron Jones in Kansas saying he knew someone who thought he had the car. Pete Mustain had bought a 32  Sports Coupe 10 or so years ago and was told it was the Jackman brothers car. Pete just put the car away in storage and out of sight out of mind until the anniversary hoopla began and someone told him that half the world was looking for the car.
Pete didn’t have a complete car, but what he did have had some of the distinctive marks of the Jackman car ... it was on a Deuce Factory chassis, the radiator came from So. California and was plugged for a Ford... also... a ‘59 Hot Rod Magazine came with the car....

Well we are getting busy and having some fun. I've got Pete's grandson working with me, so this is a little different kind of fun too. We should have a lot of picture's and updates every week now. We're setting it up with the 292 Ford & 39 trans. My 8 year old boy, Derek is even helping out dad.

Story and following pictures provided by Jr’s web site:

An old friend of mine asked me to come over and give him a price to fix up a car he found 10 years or so ago. He said it was a 1932 Ford Convertible. When I went over to see the car, I could tell right away it was a Sport coupe rather then a convertible. The car was pretty much torn all apart so it was easy to see that the body was in excellent condition and it had a new Deuce Factory frame under it. I like the car so much that I ended up trading him for a 1950 Ford street rod.
After getting the car home, I started looking it over and found what appeared to be Candy Red paint on the bottom of the rumble lid. The bottom and back half of the car has some of the same red paint on it. The radiator had two of the outlets plugged and a brass tag on it from a shop somewhere in California . Further investigation revealed a copy of a 1959 Hot rod magazine that someone had left behind in the car. The magazine was in pretty bad shape, but from what I could see it had some pictures of a 32 sport coupe in it. The article talked about the Jackman Brother who were from California. I started to think that maybe I had stumbled into one of those desirable cars you always hear about.
Fortunately for me, I had saved all my old Hotrod magazines over the years. I went up to the attic and started dragging out box after box trying to find a good copy of the 1959 issue. Before I got to the 59 issues, I came across a 1962 Hot Rod issue that had a Sport Coupe on the cover. The car was red and the Jackman’s owned it. The article said the car had won the Sweepstake Trophy at the 1961 N.H.R. A Winter Nationals. Then I knew that I had found at least part of the Jackman Brother’s 32.
I stored the car in my garage in hopes to restore the car. I showed the car to J.R. at Heartland Hot Rods about 3 years ago and told him that this one was a keeper and we were going to finish it someday. I just have to get some of these others done first. I’ve always had a liking for these Sport coups. The car has been here for about 10 years now.
At the fist part of the year I was reading Street Rodder magazine and saw the article about the 75th anniversary of the 1932 Ford. This is when I found out that they were looking for the Jackman Brother’s car. A friend of mine, Ron, emailed Hotrod Hotline and told them we may know where the car may be. Before long Mary Ann with Hotrod Hotline and Dave & Larry with Ford was contacting me about the car and it’s condition. Since then I have heard from Harry Jackman and & Tommy Jr. and he has enlightened me on some of the changes the car has went though over the years.
I would like to put the car back to how it was in 1959, or as close as possible, keeping some of the changes that Tommy and Tommy Jr. have done to the car on what could be considered the third build of the Jackman Brother’s car. I hope we all can enjoy a part of Hot Rodding History.
